One of my favorite news channels is Al Jazeerah. I've never felt any sort of manipulation of news clips on their part, and what proved it to me was when they continued broadcasting when during the first days of the Iraq invasion a reporter was shot while delivering his segment. It was tragic, and i remember i cried alot. For him, for his family, the wife he left behind and his young daughter. To see someone being shot on live television was absolutely horrific for me. But it wasn't the first time, the killing of Mohammed Al Durra ( Allah yirhamo)  of Palestine while being protected by his father during the second initifada (uprising) was also shown on Al Jazeerah. I remember i cried then too. He was about my age then. It was the first time i had thought about the Palestine situation.
Why i bring this up, the channel has a program called The Arab Street. Each week, they bring the views and opinions of arabs on different topics from a chosen city. I quite like it because the show brings real people like you and me, people who seek to make a real change in the world. The latest episode was from Qatar.

I thought some of the questions could have been asked in a better manner, one which would have produced better answers, but we gotta do with what we've got.

The best thing about holidays is that i don't have to keep up with dates or days, unless it's Wednesday, or Friday, or Saturday. You know what, i need to keep up with days, but no dates!

I was just about to write a funny-ish post about days and dates, then i went and checked my student email and it left my mind. I had no idea today was the 27th.  I took one look at the date on an email reply, and poof, the post went away. Lol. Summer holiday is starting to take it's toll on me, i really need to start reading a book before my brain turns to mush.

To explain why i wait for the three days fore-mentioned:

- Wednesday:  the Big Bang Theory comes on T.V.
- Friday: It's late night in town, and though i seldom go out now, it's still nice to know that if i want to go to town at 7pm on a Friday i can do it. Also, Glee is on. Yes, i like that show. The songs are incredible I've got to get my hands on the soundtrack.
- Saturday:  It's the weekend, and everything on television is good.

Tomorrows post will be about stuff i like, which translates to shopping.

Ciao bellas =)

Daydreams, ice-cream and sunny days

I like the smell of fresh cut grass. It's takes me back to my childhood days.
I like walking through the frozen foods section at the supermarket.
I like the ray of light that sneaks through my curtains during sunrise.
I like the feeling i get when i buy a new pair of shoes.
I like finding a quiet spot anywhere i am and reading, i know, i'm such a nerd.
I like going to the beach, sitting up at the esplanade is enough to lift my spirits.
I like going out to town with my mum, we are alike in many ways, and could never say no when she suggests we go out for coffee, or to shop.
I like traveling. Seeing new places and meeting people from different nationalities, and being exposed to new cultures brings me much joy. I wish i could travel overseas every summer.
I Love sushi, it's the one food i am capable of eating everyday without getting sick.

I hate being interrupted during a movie.
I hate dogs, i just have this huge phobia of them.
I hate being woken up from sleep by a phone call, but my best friend Mona never learns. She does it every year on my birthday, she calls it " her special present to me".
I hate people who don't understand that no means no. If i said no the first time, i'm not going to change my mind five minutes later. Gosh!
I hate liars. Once you break my trust, i could never believe you again.

It's a miracle ya'll

Today was such a beautiful day, the sun was shinning for the second day in a row, and three of my mates graduated. Seeing them in the gown and regalia was amazing, and they all looked beautiful.

Later in the day i attended a grad party for one of the girls, and it was a proper girls' shinndig, there was incredible food, desserts was yummy, and the company was spectacular. Just wished some of my other  friends were here to share that happy moment with me and the other girls.

It's 2:30 am and i should have been in bed, and fast asleep ages ago. Tomorrow's a busy day too, gotta get my beauty sleep =p

Goodnight (or morning if that's the case where you live)

Summer Lovin'

Last summer, my mum decided to grow Strawberries, and all summer, we enjoyed sweet, red, scrumptious strawberries. I used them for dessert, dipped them in chocolate, and even picked some on my in or out of the house. This summer, the plants are fruiting, though not as they were last summer, but it's good enough for me. I couldn't help but snap a pic of one, before i picked it and ate it that is. Lol.

This is so freaking exciting, i am sitting in my living room squeeling like an over excited 15 year old girl

I  never imagined i'd be seeing such a thing, but our dear Sartorialist has featured a lovely hijabi from Melbourne on his blog. I say thank you to him. It's incredible to see someone one from the outside acknowledging the beauty and grace that come with hijab. I absolutely loved it! The sister rocked her abaya, and completed her look with an equally beautiful smile. Bravo, nay, brava!
