A Visit to The Catlins

Every summer, my family goes on a day trip to see the sights of the other regions. Last year we didn't get the chance to go as my mother was in the Emirates for family reasons. So in the spirit of the holidays, we decided to refresh this family tradition and take a trip to The Catlins region, more precisely to a place called Nugget Point situated about 2 hours from Dunedin.

It is a very touristy area, covered with lush, green mountains and  ah-amazing sea views. Although I'd seen such views on a previous cross-country trip (i went with a couple of friends on a trip that took us from Dunedin to Auckland) it was exhilarating being out of the house, and out of Dunedin. I'll quit the rambling here and allow you to marvel at the views. After all, this is what the whole trip was about.

{Gorgeous scenery on the way to the Lighthouse}

{Some admiration was due, we absolutely loved it up there}

{Part of the quintessential Kiwi summer, Cherries}

Pictures do not do the area justice, but till you can all come and see for yourselves, this should suffice.

What's a Summer tradition you have in your family?

The photos look so beautiful! I've never been to the Catlins before, but I've got to go at some point I think
